New year resolution

During the Christmas holiday, we went to Italy.

We re-charged ourselves with the love of family and friends and I thank God for this.

We cooked and ate delicious meals. We inhaled the fresh air of our forest.

We hosted dinners and we were invited for dinners.

On one occasion, I asked the diners: “What is your goal for the new year ?” Among all the answers I received, one stuck in my head and made me reflect.

My Sister in Law’s Mother said with a beautiful, carefree smile and open heart: “ I want to travel more”

Her answer struck me.

Most of us would most commonly say things such as “ I want to earn more”  “ I want to exercise more”  “ I want to lose weight” etc etc.  She chose something to satisfy her desire to discover the wonders of our world. Why not? Why not choose something that can fill us? Why not choose something for pleasure rather than something challenging?

No one of the resolutions listed above are bad, indeed they are good but why not add something just for the sake of pleasure and joy?

I choose to do more of the things I love. I choose that this year I will express my creativity in the most profound way because this is what makes me feel happy, content and connected to God.

What is YOUR goal for the year?

I hope this post will help you to choose something that you love doing…something that inevitably will nourish your soul

The soul of my soul

I feel GRATEFUL because every night:
I kiss
I hug
I snuggle
I sniff the skin of my children

I’m aware of that precious moment together

We lay down in bed to read a story.
I can see you falling asleep, your breathing changes. I look at them with a heart that fills up with love and contentment.

I inevitably think of the Mothers and Fathers who don’t have anyone to hug at night because war took their children away.

Oh people of Gaza!

I see you
I feel you
I pray for you

I write because I don’t want another life to be taken away from us
I write because I’m not silent and I will always stand with the oppressed, I will always stand with the Palestinians

The jar of gratitude

I strongly believe that there is no happiness without gratitude.

I believe that at the core of a balanced existence, there is the most precious virtue: GRATITUDE.

Inspired by a post I saw on Pinterest ( follow me if you are not yet https://www.pinterest.it/GiadaGJC/) me and the kids created our JAR OF GRATITUDE.

This is where every week we will place a piece of paper where we are going to write something that happened during the week that made us feel grateful.

Ideally, we will open our jar at the end of the year; but if we are ever going to feel upset during the year, I am sure reading all those messages will uplift our souls.

I hope this post will inspire you to nurture the virtue of gratitude

THE DAY I DIDN’T SHOW UP

Update about my 100 days drawing challenge

Today, I’m going to complete drawing number 71.
During this challenge, there were two days I couldn’t show up. And that’s ok.
Me and my family ( husband + 2 kids) drove from Italy to London; as you can imagine I couldn’t take out my watercolour case and sketchbook.
I lost 2 days of practice but I didn’t lose track of my direction; I didn’t give up. I am only more motivated to keep on working on this project, because, even to my surprise this practice is opening up new worlds to me.

I hope this short update will make you keep on going even if things are not going as planned.

The winter sea

Vast, calm, cold clear sea of my Italy.

I came to greet you.

I missed you, you know?

In winter you look so beautiful and you are all for me.

Fresh, clean cold air ran through my face. I felt alive and connected to the creation.

There is nothing that can beat the creation of our creator, perfect in every possible way.

I wish I could take you with me

Please wait for me I will come back soon
